Mare to follow Sacre Coeur enjoyed a fruitful day yesterday, as her yearling filly by Showcasing went through the ring at Tattersalls. The only offering from Whitsbury Manor in this book, the homebred half-sister to Stepper Point received a timely boost with relation Heartache becoming a dual Group 2 winner. Heartache’s grandma, the Listed-placed Lonely Heart, is a half-sister to Sacre Coeur.
Ed Harper, Stud Director of Whitsbury, told EBN: “I am delighted with the sale and Joe [Foley] has been a great supporter of Showcasing for a number of years. Not only has he bought them, but he has also sent mares to him.”
Harper added: “When TTC was set up they contacted me to see if there was a mare that they could follow and I chose this one on the basis that she was in foal to Showcasing and hopefully she would produce a Book 1 yearling, which luckily worked this time. Members have recieved regular photo updates since the day she was born and visited the stud in September.”
Current Club Executive Joseph de Souza, added: “It’s a real thrill to see a yearling we’ve followed since day one, not only go through the ring, but justify he faith Ed and the team at Whitsbury had in her, by selling so well.”
The filly looked in rude health on our recent visit to Whitsbury Manor Stud, and displayed a lovely temperament when paraded to members. She continued that fine temperament at Tattersalls in both the stable and ring and eventual buyer Joe Foley went to 210,000gns to secure the filly.
We look forward to following Sacre Coeur through with her current foal, by Muhaarar, and her next progeny as she is currently in foal to Chevely Park’s first season sire Twilight Son.
